Cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the nose - Rhinoplasty and septoplasty
There are two main types of nasal plastic surgery: rhinoplasty and septoplasty. The first, rhinoplasty is a cosmetic plastic surgery procedure to change the shape and contour of the patient's nose. The second, septoplasty, is a reconstructive procedure designed to improve nasal function from the inside. Here at FaceForum, we are concerned primarily with the former. (Note from Terri: "But, since I had both rhinoplasty and septoplasty performed, we'll do our best to give some coverage to both procedures.")
Depending on what you desire, the size of your nose can be increased or decreased. The slope of your nose can be changed, as can the shape of the tip. Nose surgery can also be used to straighten a crooked nose or even to alter the appearance of the patient's nostrils. Humps, bumps and other irregularities in the shape of the nose can be corrected.
