Benefits of Nose Surgery
What Can Nose Surgery Do For You?
What benefits does nose surgery bring to the patient?
Nose surgery provides two basic benefits to people who have it. The first is improved appearance. The second is improved nasal function. Not everyone who has nose surgery is looking for improved appearance. Some patients are simply seeking better nasal function. Conversely, not all patients who are looking for improved appearance need to have their nasal function deficiencies addressed.
Improving the appearance of your nose
Some of the types of improvements that can be made to your nose's appearance are: increasing or decreasing its size, making it wider or narrower, removing bumps, changing its contour, and changing the size or shape of your nostrils.
Improving nasal function
If you have a deviated septum, a type of nose surgery known as septoplasty can be performed to correct the problem. Some people have blocked or malformed nasal passages which make it difficult to breathe properly.
There is more information on improving your nasal function through nose surgery on the "Correcting Nasal Function & Problems" page which follows later in FaceForum's Nose Surgery section.
